WHAT WE BELIEVE

At Summit We Are Leading People To

BEHOLD - Beholding Jesus and believing in Him is the beginning of our journey with Him. Recongzing who He is and that while we were still sinners Christ loved us by dying for us and that through His shed blood and empowerment of His grace we can now live redeemed.

"Behold the Son of God who takes away the sins of the world." - John 1:29

"But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." - Romans 5:8

"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them." - Ephesians 2:8-10

BELONG - Through the acceptance given to us by God through Jesus we then step into belonging to His family, understanding that we are better together.

Relationship is of the highest importance at Summit Church. We want everyone who comes to Summit Church to know that they can belong to Jesus and be welcomed into His family. Through the acceptance given to us by God through Jesus we then step into belonging to His family understanding that we are better together.

“So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, in the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. In him you are also being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit” – Ephesians 2:19-22

• Greek; Koinonia – Fellowship, joint participation, the share which one has in anything, a gift jointly contributed, a collection a contribution, it identifies the idealized state of fellowship and unity that should exist with he Body of Christ

• Our Goal is to engage at a high level with God and each other and our Faith Community.

2 Corinthians 5:17-21 NLT
“This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given
us this task of reconciling people to him. For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation. So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!” For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.”

Ephesians 1:17-19 NIV
I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his
incomparably great power for us who believe.

Beholding Jesus and believing in Him is the beginning of our journey with Him. Recognizing who He is and that

while we were still sinners Christ loved us by dying for us and that through His shed blood & the empowerment of His grace we can now live redeemed and are the children of God.

“Behold the Son of God who takes away the sins of the world.” – John 1:29

“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” – Romans 5:8

“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” – Ephesians 2:8-10

“But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin – 1 John 1:7 NIV

Ephesians 3:14-21 NLT

“When I think of all this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth. I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you
strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.” ECCLESIAthe called-out ones\.

BECOME - Through acceptance given to us by God through Jesus we can walk in all that He has designed for us to become.

I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me, you can do nothing. If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire, and burned. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples. “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love. I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you. This is my command: Love each other. – John 15:5-17

BE - Be the hands and feet of Jesus to the world.

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you.” –

Matthew 28:19-20

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and deeds and glorify your Father in Heaven. – Matthew 5:14-16

WHAT WE BELIEVE

1. We believe that the Bible is God’s Word. It is accurate, authoritative and applicable to our everyday lives.

( 2 Timothy 3:15-17)

2. We believe in our one eternal God, who is the Creator of all things. He exists in three persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. He is totally loving and completely holy.

(1 John 5:7; John 1:14; Luke 1:26-38)

3. We believe that sin has separated each of us from God and His purpose for our lives.

(Romans 5:12-21)

4. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, as both God and man, is the only one who can reconcile us to God. He lived a sinless and exemplary life. He died on the Cross in our place and rose again to prove His victory and empower us for life.

(Ephesians 2:8; Romans 10:8-10; Psalms 103:1-3)

5. We believe that in order to receive forgiveness and the “new birth” we must: repent of our sins, believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and submit to His will for our lives.

(2 Corinthians 5:17-21; Romans 10:9-10; Romans 12:2)

6. We believe God intends for us to live holy and fruitful lives; therefore, we need to be baptized in water and filled with the power of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit enables us to use spiritual gifts, including speaking in tongues.

(John 15:4-5; Matthew 28:19; Acts 1:8; Acts 2:4)

7. We believe that God has individually equipped us so that we can successfully achieve His purpose for our lives, which includes worshiping God, fulfilling our roles in the Church, and serving the communities in which we live.

(1 Timothy 6:11-13; Philippians 4:13; John 4:20-23; 1Corinthians 12; Ephesians 2:10)

8. We believe that God wants to heal and transform us so that we can live healthy and prosperous lives, in order to help others more effectively.

(3 John 2; Romans 12:1-2)

9. We believe that our eternal destination of either Heaven or Hell is determined by our response to the Lord Jesus Christ.

(Revelation 19:20; Revelation 20:10-15; 2 Thessalonians 1:7)

10.We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is coming back again, as He has promised.

(1 Corinthians 15:51-52; 1st Thessalonians 4:16)

11. We believe that matrimony is a holy monogamous marriage between one man and one woman. This means that man and woman are two distinct genders willed by God their Creator in their respective beings, which reflect the image and nature of God.
